Rob Ford: Media Bias

Rob Ford storms out of his on Conference

This article explains how Rob Ford stormed out of his press conference because a reporter asked the reference letter he wrote to the licencing tribunal for a low-truck driver. So he left because nothing the reporters were saying was relevant.

Article 2: http://www.torontosun.com/2013/06/14/raid-not-about-rob-ford\

Raid not About Rob

This article was talking how Rob Ford was not part of Project Traveller. This project was launched a year ago before Rob For was involved, and the wire tapes showed that Rob Ford is not involved.

Article 3:http://www.torontosun.com/2013/10/21/i-am-so-f-------mad-at-you-rob-ford-to-sun-columnist

I am so f------ mad at you: Rob Ford to Sun Columnist
Rob for was angry at a Toronto Star columnists because he called him out for what was unfair. Also Rob
was upset because that Toronto Sun columnist was writing false accusations about him.

Article 4: http://www.torontosun.com/2013/10/13/mayor-rob-ford-live-on-the-radio

Mayor Rob Ford defends Robocalls
Mayor Rob Ford basically went on the radio and said that the robocalls were target at the neighborhoods of southeast Scarborough to let the residents that their local councilor has voted against the Scarborough subway.

Article 5: http://www.torontosun.com/2013/09/08/ford-retrieves-donated-football-equipment

Ford retrieves donated football equipment
Mayor Rob Ford brought his office team got to Don Bosco Catholic School to collect the football equipment he donated. The reason behind this was because the Toronto Catholic School Board has already paid for new equipment.

The reason why newspaper portray Mayor Rob Ford in a negative way is because while his term of being of being Mayor he did a really poor job. So the newspaper columnists portray him in this light so he will leave. But don't forget these columnists who write these articles are Toronto citizens who are residents and are under the power of the Mayor, so to get their points across without causing any harm they state their opinion so they can have change, and the Mayor cannot do anything about that because it is called freedom of expression if he did it would make him violate their human rights. But sometimes these columnists are biased they only do these articles based on their opinion they should get the Mayors viewpoints then weight out how bad he really is.

In the third article I found it is pretty obvious that it wasn't Rob's most proud moment. He was sitting having dinner, and a columnist came up to him and started questioning nobody wants that. So it is understandable that anyone would get mad under those circumstances. It makes him look really bad. Like he does not control over emotion he has to learn to take these things to emotionally because after his term of being Mayor he hasn't been good Mayor so he has to keep his cool so he does not look even worse which the columnists wants. It basically says that he is a Mayor who does not know how to be civilized at a public place. C'mon Rob your the mayor a person of power, a public figure to the people of Toronto I think you should be able to handle an annoying columnist.

In the fourth article I think it made him look really good. A dedicated mayor to the people of Toronto who donates football equipment to a school he coaches. That kind of story would make anyone look. But the funny thing about this article is that the school gave back the equipment because the Toronto Catholic School Board has already bought the school equipment. So it's looks like he is a bad mayor trying to cover up his tracks by giving "charity".

Batman Poster Advertising

Write down which image you would use for the following sources, and explain (in one or two sentences) why the image would be appropriate for that location?

Locations:
- Cosmo Magazine (Women's Magazine)

I would put this picture in Cosmo Magazine because it has a feminine side to it that could appeal to women. Also this poster has the actor Anne Hathaway so in her movie career women usually like her kind of acting. Also it has dark but mystical thing going on that women will enjoy, it relates to Twilight, City of Bones, The Hunger Games.

-Maxim Magazine (Men's Magazine)

I think his poster fits perfectly with Maxim magazine because it give good since of male dominance since it batman standing on a tower looking down on everyone else,
GamePro Magazine (Video Game Magazine)

This is perfectly fit with GamePro because the poster resembles to a villan in a video game which anyone which could appeal to anyone.

- In Theatre "Now Playing" Poster

This poster would fit perfectly because it shows the two leads, and a prediction that the movie will have romance, and since it's Batman, and Catwoman there will be some action.

Scott Pilgrim Movie Review Worksheet

Fill out the following information about the movie [Two sentences per question]:

1.  Who are the 5 most important characters in the film?  Also list the names 5 of the actors playing these characters.
The Five most important characters in this movie are...
- Micheal Cera as Scott Pilgrim
- Mary Elizebeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers
- Ellen Wong as Knives Chou
- Kieran Culkin as Wallace Walls
- Jason  Schwartzman as Gordon Graves

2.  What is this story about?  Be very detailed!
It is 2010 in Toronto, Canada during a very cold winter Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) is an unemployed 23-year-old bass guitarist in an up-and-coming garage rock band called “Sex Bob-omb” he is dating a cute perky 17-year-old high school girl, Knives Chau (Ellen Wong). He is having fun in life just rolling around until one day Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) roller-blades into his life. Ramona moved to Toronto from New York City to find peace and quiet and leave her past behind. No one knows what her past is, but Scott will find out very soon as he tries to make Ramona his new girlfriend. Before Scott can begin dating Ramona, he must prove himself by defeating the league of her seven exes who controls her love life. They will do anything to get rid of and destroy any new boyfriend Ramona may consider. If Scott wants to find true love with Ramona, he must defeat all seven, before the game is over.

3.       What group of people would like this movie (demographics)?
I think that young adults would like this movie because it has very inside jokes that only a mature would understand. Also this movie has a lot stereotypes that children would not understand at all.

4.       Did you like this movie?  Why or why not?
I liked this movie because it was funny and alot of stereotypes based on culture, music, and everyday lifestyles. This movie could have gone deeper in the chemistry between Ramona and Scott. The best part of the movie were when Wallace would discourage to the extent where it was somewhat supportive.

5.       What rating would you give this movie?
I would give this movie a 3 out 5 stars. Amazing special effects and comedy, but could have gotten deeper chemistry between Ramona, and Scott.

6.      What spoilers might ruin the movie for viewers if you told them about it?
Some spoilers I would reveal are that Ramona, and Scott get together in the end. Also that knives becomes a crazy maniac when Scott dumps her. And Ramona's ex boyfriend  Gordon Graves was the one who formed the league of exes.

7.       All movies teach a lesson (theme/moral).  What did you learn from this one?
The moral of this movie is to never give up if you care for someone or something deeply. Like how Scott had to defeat seven exes because he was in love with Ramona, and he wanted to be with her.

8.       What title would you give your review (and can you think of a pun that might work for it)
“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” the only movie that truly portrays the difficulties of having a girlfriend.

Scott Pilgram vs The World Film Review

Scott Pilgrim vs The World
“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” the only movie that truly portrays the difficulties of having a girlfriend.
By: Sofia Salad Farah

There are those movies that make you feel old, awkward, and makes you ask the question why I don’t have this moment in my life. But this movie has the opposite effect. The movie is funny happy/sad, and we can relate so much with the feelings between Ramona Flowers and Scott Pilgrim. It makes you feel at home, and in its world even though the landscape is at first glance, and unfamiliar

Michael Cera the guy who Scott Pilgrims character did a decent job in the very emotional scenes but it was like he was a bit too sarcastic. I know he did that on purpose to show the movie in a comedic but still he needed to portray his feeling a bit more. Mary Elizabeth Winstead she played Ramona Flowers I think she portrayed her character extremely well because she showed she was a mysterious, and somewhat depressed person through her voice, facial expressions, and body movement. So the question you might be asking yourselves is “So who acted the worst?” Okay so the worst actor was Ellen Wong who played Knives Chau her acting was so bad a high monkey could’ve done better. She was too perky. She didn’t was TOO clingy. She made teenage girls look like they were obsessed with tall sticks which we call boys

The scenes that  were  funny was when Scott’s gay friends Wallace whenever they were together it made everyone laugh. He was so unsupportive that he made Scott laugh at himself. The scenes that were cool were when Scott would have to fight the exes it used a perfect blend of comedy, and special effects. The special effects were amazing. Snow was in every scene which would be considered cool because they movie was filmed during the spring. Comedy was used well because Scott would use his sarcasm to throw off the exes so he can defeat them. I didn’t like how they were too much special effects and not enough chemistry going with Scott, and Ramona.

The moral of this movie would be if you love someone do whatever you can to keep her. Also don’t doubt yourself if your different you can do it. To be honest this movie has no morals, it goes against all my morals and value. The only thing I learned was that Pac Man was originally from Tokyo, Japan and it is a horrible conversation starter especially with a girl your in love with.

The group of people who should watch this are young adults because the movie has a lot of rascist jokes and sterotypes. Also the movie portrays different sexual orientations that children aren’t familiar with it. Also a lot of inappropriate words being used that people underage shouldn’t be hearing. This movie would be recommended to older teens. The MPAA rating I would give this movie is PG 14. I think this movie was funny but should had given a little more emotion. It was an intriguing picture for being so exotic and eccentric, and for making itself with the style and structure of a videogame rather than a film.  The movie scenes had series of game-levels and flavouring this sequence, not with the usual dramatic reversals and character-development.

 Scale 1-5
3.5

Out my Window Assignment

Benoit

Benoit is a Quebec citizen that lives in a Lebanese community which he struggles with because he can only speak french. Which is difficult because he wants to make friends other people but might not be able to because of the language barrier. This is similar to me because when I use to live in Montreal I lived in a "white" community where nobody really understood my cultural customs so it was hard to talk to people about holidays, or what clothing they were wearing for celebrations. But I had to try and find a comprise within myself to try and fit in with my community so we traded words I would say something in Somali, in return they would say something in French so eventually we learned from one another. Something that is different is how Benoit knows himself, and what he wants to do with his life, he knows what his passion is. I am still trying to figure out what I want to do as a career. And that is hard because I don't know myself all that well. I think that my life, and Benoit's life isn't that different than mine but there are some aspects of his life that connects to my life, that is very different from mine like what he wants to do with his life.
